Hou Hsiao-hsien to Receive Golden Horse Lifetime Achievement Award1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteTaiwanese filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien (侯孝賢) will receive the lifetime achievement award at the 57th Golden Horse Awards (GHA) in November, the organisers announced 24 August.
All of the members of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee voted for Hou, in recognition of his achievements in filmmaking and support for up-and-coming directors, the committee said in a statement.
Upon hearing the news, Hou’s first reaction was to say he wanted to donate the prize money, before being reminded that the award comes with no prize money, the committee said.
The renowned director will formally receive the award at this year’s GHA, which is set to take place on 21 November at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
