The 39th annual Vancouver International Film Festival runs 24 September to 9 October 2020

VIFF is now accepting international submissions from any genre for its 2020 festival, which will screen more than 180 features and 80 shorts in a multi-venue showcase of exceptional films from around the world.

VIFF takes great pride in championing international cinema’s most exciting new voices, offering diverse programming and fostering enlightening dialogue. Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), Sean Baker (The Florida Project) and Jia Zhangke (Ash Is Purest White) are but a few of the now-renowned filmmakers who attended VIFF early in their careers.

Early deadline: 24 April 2020

Entry fees:
Feature films – USD $47.50 (approx: SGD $64)
Short films – USD $35 (approx: SGD $47)

Regular Deadline: May 29 2020

Entry fees:
Feature films – USD $57.50 (approx: SGD $77.70)
Short films – USD $40 (approx: SGD $54)

Late Deadline: June 12 2020

Entry fees:
Feature films -USD $70 (approx: SGD $94.50)
Short films – USD $45 (approx: SGD $60.80)

Submission Categories and Eligibility

International Narrative Features
Open to non-Canadian narrative films with runtimes over 25 minutes. Feature length films must not have been broadcast, distributed on VOD/home video, been made available for viewing on the internet or screened either at another festival or publicly (i.e. an advertised public screening at which an admission was charged, excluding film school graduation screenings) in the Vancouver area.

International Documentaries
Open to non-Canadian nonfiction films with runtimes over 25 minutes. Feature length films must not have been broadcast, distributed on VOD/home video, been made available for viewing on the internet or screened either at another festival or publicly (i.e. an advertised public screening at which an admission was charged, excluding film school graduation screenings) in the Vancouver area.

International Shorts
Open to non-Canadian narrative and nonfiction films with runtimes of 25 minutes or less. VIFF will consider short films that have been made available online.
