Reading Time: < 1 minuteLocal indie film The Spirits of Singapore has renamed itself to Tales Untold, after the team behind the project consulted with a numerology consultant.
Touted as the “first black and white Singaporean film launched in Asia after many years”, Tales Untold is a horror anthology film featuring four stories, all shot on location.
The first story brings the audience to Haw Par Villa, where a man is haunted by poor decisions and is presented an opportunity for redemption. The second, shot at Bukit Brown, tells the tale of unintended consequences due to one man’s greed, and another man’s attempt to change events that spirals horribly out of control. The third follows the misadventure between youths after stirring up spirits at Pasir Ris Beach Tower.
The last connecting story sees Mia, a young woman, desperately seeking answers to a mysterious past and a macabre dream that has haunted all her life. She hunts down Henry, a man intimately acquainted with paranormal phenomena, who shares much more than she can bear. In all, the horror anthology aims to explore supernatural themes while featuring well-known areas of Singapore “in all its sinister glory.”
The film is slated for a March release in Singapore, before moving to Malaysia.
