Reading Time: < 1 minuteMalaysia’s Next New Wave initiative that supports and nurtures new, emerging filmmakers are back with their third annual SeaShorts Film Festival where Southeast Asian festival directors and filmmakers gather. Submissions can stand a chance to win the SeaShorts Award and the Next New Wave Award.
Submission Deadline: Saturday, 15th June 2019
Awards Criteria
SeaShorts Award
Directors are from Southeast Asia.
Film submitted has not been premiered in any film festival before 1st June 2018.
Film submitted must be produced in Southeast Asian countries, fulfilled by at least three of these: film locations, core team members, main casts or funding.
Films cannot exceed 30 minutes, including credits.
The jury for this segment is headed by a grand master of world cinema Lav Diaz and comprises of Bront Palarae and Lee Chatametikool.
Next New Wave Award
Directors are from Malaysia.
Film submitted has not been premiered in any film festival before 1st June 2018.
Film submitted must be produced in Malaysia, fulfilled by at least three of these: film locations, core team members, main casts or funding.
Films cannot exceed 30 minutes, including credits.
The jury for this segment is headed by prominent Indonesian filmmaker Garin Nugroho and also includes Sherman Ong.
