NEWS: Full List of 2019 SAG Awards Winners Announced1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe SAG Awards were handed out on Jan. 27, 2019, during a two-hour ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California airing live on both TBS and TNT. This marked the 25th year that the Screen Actors Guild has awarded prizes in six film categories and nine TV races.
Among the movies in the running, A Star is Born leads with four nominations, including a bid for best ensemble (the SAG Awards equivalent of Best Picture at the Academy Awards). Its rivals for this top prize are three-time nominee BlacKkKlansman, two-time contenders Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody, and Crazy Rich Asians, which counts this as its sole bid.
Of the television series in contention two reaped four nominations each, including in their respective ensemble races: the crime drama Ozark and the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Three comedies — Barry, GLOW and The Kominsky Method — earned a trio of nominations including best ensemble as did the drama The Handmaid’s Tale.
The SAG Awards nominations for film and television were decided by two randomly selected panels of 2,500 members apiece drawn from the rolls of the merged Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists unions. The winners were decided by all 121,000 members of SAG-AFTRA.
