NEWS: ZOOM introduces the H3-VR Handy Recorder2 min read
Reading Time: 2 minutesZOOM is proud to announce its latest handy recorder, the Zoom H3-VR Handy Recorder, an all-in-one virtual reality audio recorder that has a built-in Ambisonic mic, recorder and decoder, finally providing a complete solution for capturing and processing spatial audio for VR, AR and mixed-reality content in the palm of your hand.
Previously, capturing VR audio meant requiring a dedicated Ambisonics microphone hooked up to a separate audio recorder, and then a computer for decoding the raw Ambisonics A format audio to VR-ready Ambisonics B audio. The H3-VR now simplifies and streamlines the whole process. Its 4-capsule Ambisonic mic can not only record 4 channels of 360-degree audio of up to 24 bit/96 kHz, but all of the Ambisonics A-to-B encoding and decoding is done on board the device itself, saving time, money and effort at every step.
Besides recording in Ambisonics format, the H3-VR also records stereo binaural WAV files up to 24 bit/48 kHz. The binaural mode provides a hyper-realistic spatial recording that enhances 2D productions with 3D audio, allowing 2D creators to add more depth to their content. The H3-VR also offers standard stereo, 5.1ch surround, and even live streaming 360, enabling streamers to place their fans in the best seats in the house, no matter where they are listening from.
The H3-VR’s lightweight and portable design, ability to operate on two AA batteries, and record directly to an SD card, mean it’s never been faster and simpler for creators to setup and start recording anywhere. Its compact, conical design allows for the capturing of audio from multiple angles without getting in the way of the camera or the action.
With numerous market research studies pegging the VR and AR consumer markets and content creation to grow ten-fold over the next few years, the Zoom H3-VR offers VR creators of all levels the tools to capture spatial audio and create 360-content at a very affordable price. The Zoom H3-VR will be available in Singapore in January 2019 and will retail at a MSRP of S$500. The H3-VR ships with a foam windscreen, dual mounting bracket and 2 AA batteries included in the box.
