N.E.mation! is an annual inter-school digital animation competition organised by Nexus, for students to express their thoughts on Total Defence. The competition has been very well-received, reaching more than 17200 students participants since its inception in 2007. Each year, these high quality animation clips are broadcasted on television and cinemas, and several have even won awards at international animation festivals.
N.E.mation! 2019 will be the thirteenth run of the competition. This year, N.E.mation! 2019 returns with the main Student Category for secondary school students aged 13-16 and a new Youth Category for youths between 17-25 years old. Teams from both categories are invited to use their creativity to produce animation clips centred on the theme “Together We Keep Singapore Strong”.
The animation clips produced by the top 10 teams from each category will be judged by a panel comprising industry professionals and the public. The public can vote for their three favourite clips from each category in January 2019 on our Facebook as well as our website. The champion team from the Student Category will win a trip to visit renowned animation studios overseas while the top team from the Youth Category will win a cash prize of $1000 per member (maximum of 4 members per team) and an internship at a media company. The top 10 finalists from each category will also get to see their clips broadcasted onto media platforms.
