WHO WILL GET REMAKE RIGHTS TO HIT ZOMBIE THRILLER “˜TRAIN TO BUSAN’ ?1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe rights to remake South Korean zombie smash hit Train to Busan are currently the subject of a potential bidding war between a number of large US and European movie studios. Train to Busan, an action-thriller written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Seoul Station, The Fake), tells the story of a small number of train passengers attempting to survive a zombie outbreak in the South Korean capital city of Seoul. The film has been racking up plaudits worldwide for its inventiveness and fantastic set-pieces, and was also received very favourably during its screening at the Cannes Film Festival back in May.
This will be director Yeon Sang-ho’s first major live-action film, but those familiar with his previous work will note the similarity in theme with one of his other works, the animated feature Seoul Station. Both films center around groups of people trying to survive in a world ravaged by zombies and both films take place within the cityscape of Seoul
