The Fourth Direction wins top prize in Singapore1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteGurvinder SINGH‘s The Fourth Direction Chauthi koot won the top prize at the Singapore International Film Festival æ–°åŠ å¡åœ‹éš›é›»å½±ç¯€‘s Silver Screen Awards competition. The awards were announced on Sunday.
A Punjabi-language drama about the fear and paranoia felt during the anti-Sikh riots of 1984, The Fourth Direction (pictured) won Best Film in the Asian Feature Film category. The film had its world premiere at the Un Certain Regard section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Israeli film Tikkun won a Special Mention, even though its public screening was canceled because Singapore censors refused to pass the film uncut. A closed-door screening was held for the jury.
Following its prizes at Locarno, Japanese drama Happy Hour ãƒãƒƒãƒ”ーアワー picked up the Best Director award for HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke 濱å£ç«œä»‹.
