Call for entries: Visual Documentary Project 20151 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe Visual Documentary Project 2015, initiated by The Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University is now calling for submissions. The theme this year is Human Flows – Movement in Southeast Asia, which aims to explore and portray Southeast Asia with its rich diversity in ethnics, cultures and religions, at the same time address various problems that the region faces nowadays including natural disasters and cultural conflicts and play a part in finding solutions for such pressing problems.
All filmmakers who are Southeast Asian citizens are welcomed to submit their documentaries. Submissions should be no longer than 30 minutes, produced after January 2014 and reflect on any topics that are related to human movement in Southeast Asia, including “economic migration, movement between countries in the region, pilgrimages, migration due to political crisis or environmental degradation, cultural influences and borderless journeys/wanderings.”
Five best documentaries will be selected for an international screening in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan. Directors of each films will be invited to these two cities during the screening period, with travel and accommodation fees covered by The Centre for Southeast Asian Studies.
Submission closes on December 20, 2015.
