Asian films nab prizes at Locarno1 min read

Asian films scored a number of major prizes at the 68th Locarno Film Festival | Festival del film Locarno (5-15 Aug 2015). The winners were announced by the jury at a press conference held on Saturday afternoon local time.

HONG Sang-soo 홍상수 | 洪常秀’s Right Now, Wrong Then 지금은맞고그때는틀리다 won two prizes: The top Golden Leopard prize and Best Actor (JEONG Jae-yeong 정재영 | 鄭在詠). The relationship drama will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the New York Film Festival in the coming months.

HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke 濱口竜介’s Happy Hour ハッピーアワー also won two prizes: The Best Actress prize for its main cast (TANAKA Sachie 田中幸恵, KIKUCHI Hazuki 菊池葉月, MIHARA Maiko 三原麻衣子 and KAWAMURA Rira 川村りら) and a Special Mention for its script.
