Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe trailer for the upcoming period film 1965 was revealed for the first time at a media event on Wednesday (Jun 17).
The trailer opened with scenes depicting the lives people in Singapore led in the mid-1960s, followed by scenes depicting the racial riots of the era, as well as how the film’s protagonist, police inspector Cheng (Qi Yuwu), struggles to keep the peace.
Set in the years leading up to Singapore’s independence, the film is a dramatic thriller based on historical events which looks at the fragility of racial harmony in Singapore. The event was attended by 1965 cast members Joanne Peh and Lim Kay Tong, who plays Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew in the film.
