7 Letters Opens Next Month at the Capitol Theatre1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteWe haven’t been this excited about a local movie since Ken Kwek’s Unlucky Plaza late last year. Fully funded by the Singapore Film Commission, 7 Letters, aka “the SG50 film”, is a collaboration film between seven writers-directors, ranging from mainstream maverick Jack Neo to artier folks like Boo Junfeng, Kelvin Tong, K. Rajagopal, Eric Khoo (whose film reportedly has a cameo by Juliette Binoche!) and Tan Pin Pin, whose last documentary, To Singapore, With Love, was banned last year.
There will be lots of pertinent local issues tackled in the film, including migration and reclamation, as well as slightly more twee topics like memory and forgotten HDB flats. One thing for sure though, it is a project that will appeal across the board. The film will be the first to play at the refurbished Capitol Theatre and will play for three days from July 24th to 26th.
