Reading Time: < 1 minuteAn out-there comedy on sexual frustration, Singapore style, Rubbers 套 starts like a collegiate gross-out movie but develops a typically Southeast Asian sweetness in its second half that goes a long way to excusing some of the movie’s more juvenile moments. With a cast of regulars that includes veteran Marcus CHIN 陳建彬 and Catherine SNG å«æ–¼æƒ , as well as fine Malaysian Chinese actress YEO Yann Yann 楊é›é› (Being Human åšäºº (2010), Ilo Ilo 爸媽ä¸åœ¨å®¶ (2013)), writer-director HAN Yew Kwang 韓耀光‘s fifth feature is a vast improvement on his gender-bending comedy When Hainan Meets Teochew 當海å—é‡ä¸Šæ½®å·ž (2010) but lacks the more sustained craft of his earlier (and best known feature) 18 Grams of Love 愛情18克 (2007).
