Reading Time: < 1 minuteDiscovery Networks Asia-Pacific has commissioned six programmes from Japanese filmmakers for a strand about the country’s earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters earlier this year.
The earthquake in March triggered a tsunami that left thousands dead along the east coast of Japan and caused serious damage to some of the country’s nuclear power plants.
Discovery has commissioned six locally made programmes about the country’s recovery efforts to air as part of a Rebuilding Japan strand.
Discovery Networks invited pitches from Japanese prodcos and shortlisted 16 from 250 entries. These companies then attended a three-day workshop in July from which six programmes were selected.
