Reading Time: < 1 minuteThey are calling it the Cannes of Asia and it seems a small island city-state will be getting glittery this coming week.
What starry event is this? It’s the inaugural Screen Singapore 2011 held from June 5 to 12. And hot, famous stars
from Asia, Europe and USA are set to visit Singapore to promote their respective films.
Celebrities who will be at Screen Singapore include Hong Kong actor Nick Cheung and director Wong Jing (for Chinese wuxia-comedy movie Treasure Inn) and Japanese actress Aya Omasa (Paradise Kiss). Chinese actress, Tang Wei (who infamously got naked with Tony Leung in Lust, Caution) will also grace the red carpet with director Jingle Ma for their latest Chinese movie Speed Angel. Even Bollywood is in the mix. Veteran superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be joining the festivities as well.
To top it all, Oscar-award winning actor Tom Hanks will be in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific premiere of the movie Larry Crowne on closing night June 11 at the newly-refurbished Shaw Lido theatre. Tom Hanks directed and co-wrote the romantic
comedy which also stars Julia Roberts and Brian Cranston.
