Zhang, who had starred in films like “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” and “Memoirs of a Geisha”, joins the ranks of film industry luminaries like “Platoon” director Oliver Stone and Wayne Wang, who directed “The Joy Luck Club”, as ambassadors for the inaugural ScreenSingapore this year.
“ScreenSingapore will no doubt prove to be a meaningful event, a platform from where both Asian and Western cinema will flourish together, promoting cross-cultural working relationships and helping bring international projects to an even wider audience.
“It is an honour to be involved with such an exciting project,” said Zhang in a press statement on Friday.
Held from June 5 onwards, the eight-day event will see a galaxy of stars like “Lust, Caution” star Tang Wei, Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan and Hollywood veteran Tom Hanks, descend on Singapore to attend various red carpet events held at cineplexes across the island.
