Shorts pile up for Singapore awards1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteJust under a hundred short films have entered the running for the Asian Short Film Awards@ScreenSingapore, part of the upcoming ScreenSingapore film event (5 – 12 June, 2011).
The film finance forum that takes place within the week-long jamboree has also confirmed Jim Gianopulos ,chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, as a keynote speaker.
ScreenSingapore organisers said that they received 90 submissions from film-makers stretching all the way from New Zealand to Japan to Iran, the majority in English. Subject matter ranges from documentary-style treatment of child abuse, to fictional stories about teenage love.
The winner will be pre-selected by a committee that includes Singaporean film director, Eric Khoo, CEO of RGM Media, Devesh Chetty and film critic Maggie Lee, before being chosen by Oliver Stone. The prize is worth SGD20,000 ($16,100).
