Talking to CT, Maanu says, “It was screened on May 14 at Cannes Market under the debut film category. It’s the first Tamil film to be made outside India and Sri Lanka. The film, directed by T T Dhavamani, is Singapore’s first local Tamil movie, starring actors who are born and brought up in Singapore.
Though the film didn’t do commercially well here, it has been getting a lot of recognition internationally. It’s been released in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and India and now, the film will also be screened at the Rome Film Festival next month.”
Meanwhile, the Kadhal Mannan actress, who teaches classical dance, faced the camera recently for a telefilm . “I went to Sri Lanka to shoot for Ezhuthatha Kadhai. It’s the story of a writer who dies before finishing his book. The film unfolds from the point of view of his wife,” she reveals.
