The Chaser writer now based in Singapore1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe man responsible for the nail-biting, blood-chilling 2008 South Korean blockbuster The Chaser, Lee Shinho, now lives in Singapore.
A renowned scriptwriter, Lee’s distinctive style will be apparent in his first Singapore film The Daughter, a soon-to-be-shot psycho thriller on the subject of cyber paedophiles.
Born and raised in Seoul, Lee Shinho moved to the United States at the age of 19 to pursue a degree in dramatic writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. The 34-year-old relocated to Singapore last August and is now lecturing at his alma mater’s Asia campus here.
Lee expressed his happiness at how the phenomenal success of The Chaser opened doors to more work opportunities for him. But he still wonders why the film was such a hit with the audience because “it is really not an easy film to watch”.
