Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe Film Development Council of the Philippines, which is tasked to promote local movies, is expected to inaugurate the country’s first national film archive and four art movie venues this year.
Briccio G. Santos, chairman of the film council, said during a visit here, that the projects are on top of the ongoing series of film festivals which provide viewers nationwide free screenings of Filipino films.
Both the national film archive and an art house theater are expected to be inaugurated and opened to the public at the end of this month, said Jose Miguel De la Rosa, the film council’s executive director.
Mr. De la Rosa said the council’s old office in the Ortigas Center in Pasig City is now used to store old Filipino movies while an art house theater in Makati City will serve as the viewing area of all films that will be stored in the national film archive.
