THE SCHOOL OF SCHOCK1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteWith alumni including the likes of Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joel Coen, Ang Lee and even the mighty Adam Sandler, New York University Tisch School Of The Arts is much more than a film school.
It’s one of the cornerstones of America’s all-conquering film industry.
Professor Barbara Schock has been teaching at Tisch Asia for the past three years in the Department Of Graduate Film.
Tisch has a reputation for hiring only the best educators available (Stone is the artistic director of Tisch Asia), and having won an Academy Award in 2000 for her own student film My Mother Dreams Of Satan’s Disciples, the story of a small town mum’s encounter with a New York biker gang, Prof Schock obviously fits the bill.
She told FiRST: ‘The thing about winning an Oscar is that they say people who win an Oscar actually live a few years longer than other people – you get such a sense of well-being! (laughs)
