Dukot is main winner at FAMAS Awards1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteJoel Lamangan’s political thriller Dukot was the major winner at last night’s FAMAS Awards in Manila winning six prizes including best picture.
The film, which received a local theatrical release in Dec 2009, is about the disappearance and extra-judicial killings of left-wing leaders, journalists and activists in the Philippines.
In addition to best picture, Dukot won awards for director Lamangan, actor Allen Dizon, cinematographer Monino Duque, editor Bebs Gohetia and art director Edgar Martin Littaua.
Dukot and Mac Alejandre’s Ang Panday were front-runners at the event, starting the evening with 15 and 14 nominations each. The prolific Lamangan competed with himself in 6 categories for another film he directed, Sagrada Familia.
