Even though they are politically joined by the same country, the cinema of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan has, traditionally, few points in common.

The governmental control of Chinese cinema cannot be compared to the freedom of creation of Taiwanese cinema, or what used to be the Hollywood of the East, Hong Kong.
