“The Warrior’s Way,” a new martial arts Western starring Kate Bosworth, Geoffrey Rush and Korean pop star Dong-gun Jang, has been a labor of love for its director Sngmoo Lee.

A Korean citizen, he attended New York University for cinema studies and filmmaking.

He began developing a film about an Asian assassin who refuses his master’s orders to kill a baby and goes into hiding as a laundry man with a traveling circus.

Lee, now 48, says he first came up with the idea 11 years ago, though he wasn’t able to fully finance the film – which boasts of a $45 million budget – and shoot it until years later, with the help of producer Barrie Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy).
