Youku Leads in iPad, iPhone App Downloads1 min read
Reading Time: 2 minutesYouku.com, China’s leading video site, announced updated figures today showing that its online video application for the Apple iPad had been downloaded an average of 9,200 downloads per day.
Most recently, Youku became the first Chinese company to use Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology for its mobile applications.
HLS technology allows Youku to deliver high-quality streaming video with a great degree of flexibility across mobile networks, ensuring that whether viewers are using WiFi or cellular data networks, they always receive the best stream possible over their connection.
The free applications, which run on iOS 3.0 and higher, bring over 10 million videos – including more than 800 high-definition films and television shows for iPad users – from the PC to the palms of users’ hands, allowing users to view, share, and comment on videos wherever they are.
