There were reports the festival was in danger of being cancelled after falling short of its 220-thousand US dollar budget.
But now its managed to secure funding from a new corporate sponsor and the government has chipped in too.
While Indonesia’s mainstream film industry may be booming, the festival’s money woes show that arthouse cinema is still struggling to find a big market.
