Youth teaches kababayan to make indie films1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteA young indie filmmaker returned to his hometown in Tupi, South Cotabato to share his craft in independent filmmaking to his “kababayans.”
“I am encouraging everyone to go into independent film for change. In indie films, everything is recorded and these can reflect true events and happenings that may be used as instruments for social change,”said Liryc dela Cruz, an independent filmmaker.
He was the resource person of a two-day seminar-workshop on independent filmmaking as a tool for advocacy sponsored by the local government unit (LGU) of Tupi and the Alliance of Arts, Culture, Tourism Officers and Sports Coordinators of South Cotabato (ACTS-SC).
He added, “We need to bridge the gap between the mainstream film and independent film because we recognize the power of this medium as a tool for development.”
