Korea-Japan remake classic romance Ghost1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteSouth Korea’s CJ Entertainment is now co-producing the Japanese remake of Ghost, together with Hollywood studio Paramount.
Newly titled Love and Soul, the remake of the 1990 Hollywood classic romance is directed by Japan’s Otani Taro, and stars Japanese top actress Matsushima Nanako and South Korean star Song Seung Heon. Shooting wrapped at the end of last month.
The production is being carried through by Paramount Pictures Japan, Shochiku, Nippon TV, and also involves Taka Ichise, producer of the US film The Grudge.
Ghost earned $200 million in worldwide cinemas, and attracted more than 2 million viewers in Korea.
Lead actor Song said that the film crew has put in a lot of effort to differentiate the film from other Korea-Japan collaborations, particularly as Ghost has been continuously loved by audiences around the world.
Slated for release in Japan on 13 November, a slot for South Korea in late November also looks likely.
