Asian Festival of First Films kicks off today1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe Asian Festival of First Films (AFFF) is back for the fourth year running, and is held from the today through to the 10th of December.
Touted as the world’s only film and documentary festival that celebrates first-time filmmakers, the films will compete for eleven awards at the award ceremony on the last day.
The celebrated My Magic from Eric Khoo enters with a nomination in the category of Best Actor for Bosco Francis, who puts in an emotional performance in the film as a drunken father who turns to magic in order to keep his son.
Also among the nominated is a film by Nandita Das, an international award winning actress and Cannes Festival Jury member. Check out the full list of films that have been nominated, plus the full schedule of the screenings at GV Vivocity and The Arts House.
Said festival director Sanjoy Roy, “We recognize the best of international first-time filmmaking and invite film professionals and acquisition heads to Singapore, which provides the perfect location to play host to the Festival.
“I am delighted with the range and quality of films which have come in this year. Over 600 films and documentaries from 26 countries have posed an incredible channel with a number of excellent films in all categories.”
