3 Singaporean films nominated for Golden Horse1 min read
Reading Time: 2 minutesLocal movie 881 has been nominated for the Best Styling and Best Costume category in the 44th Taiwan Golden Horse Award Competition, reports The Straits Times.
Alongside the box office hit are two other Singaporean films which have also received nominations, including Home Song Stories and Jack Neo’s Just Follow Law.
With seven nominations in its hat, Home Song Stories is the second most nominated film in the competition (behind Lust, Caution). Its nominations include Best Film, Best Actress (Joan Chen) and Best Supporting Actor (Joel Lok). MediaCorp actor Gurmit Singh is nominated Best Actor for his role in Just Follow Law, in which he stars opposite Fann Wong. Just Follow Law also received nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Visual Effects.
The award ceremony will be held on the 28th of November, 2007 and lasts a total of ten days, up till the 8th of December, 2007. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges a week before the ceremony, and will receive a signature golden horse statuette. The awards are generally considered as the ‘Academy Awards’ of the region, especially so for Chinese-language films outside of China.
