Reading Time: < 1 minuteAs part of the 2nd Singapore Indie Doc Fest, The Substation and Objectifs will be presenting talks by award-winning American filmmaker Andrea Richards. The first talk, “Focus on Female Directors”, will be on Friday, 9 March at 7:30 pm at the Substation Theatre.
Held as part of International Women’s Day, it will discuss some female film pioneers who worked in record numbers in film production from the 1920s,, but were only recently rescued from obscurity. Singapore’s film industry is still in its own pioneering days — what can we learn from women filmmakers from another generation who were also boldly charting the way for themselves?
The talk will last about 45 minutes and will be followed by a screening of “Women’s Perspectives”, a programme of 2 films by women, about women: Kagad Kaanch Patra from India and That Paradise Will Be Mine from The Netherlands. Tickets are $7 ($5 concession) from Gatecrash, and are inclusive of both the talk and the film screenings.
