RESFEST Singapore will present the full global program but will introduce distinct elements this year including Res Mix Japan, featuring some of the most significant short-form work coming out of Japan today, and Screener Series: Singapore –— the first RES-curated program of innovative local films that will debut at The Picturehouse. Curated from over 90-submissions, this program is a genre-spanning selection that showcases innovation featuring fresh new work and rare cuts from some of Singapore’s most significant emerging and iconic talents. Highlights include Eric Khoo’s clever take on I Lost My Head; Momorobo’s beautifully-illustrated music video for Futon, Strap It On; as well as the premiere of new work like Russel Zehnder’s I Saw Jesus, shot entirely on Super-8, Critica’s motion design gem, Blassic, and a documentary-short on design-collective, Faille.
The Screener Series: Singapore will be presented together with the first-ever RESFEST Audience Choice Awards. To be held at Velvet Underground, the inaugural RESFEST Audience Choice Awards will reward the most popular local films from this year’s festival. The winning filmmaker with the most votes will be presented with the coveted RES-Director’s Chair and other prizes.
